Mozart et Haydn à Londres
28 June 2022
La Seine Musicale, Paris, 8.30pm
The award-winning Mozartists make their Paris début under the baton of Ian page, with a programme of works linked to London. This begins with a Mozart symphony, composed during the composer’s childhood visit to London in the 1760s (it was long considered lost until its rediscovery in 1981), and ends with one of the greatest of Haydn’s symphonies composed for his second visit to the English capital in the 1790s. In between, the exciting Swiss-Belgian soprano Chiara Skerath – an Associate Artist of The Mozartists – sings an exquisite aria by J. C. Bach, for which Mozart wrote his own set of embellishments, and Haydn’s dramatic Scena di Berenice.
