Haydn’s ‘Farewell’
15 March 2022
Cadogan Hall
Coming up at 7.30pm on 15 March is ‘Haydn’s ‘Farewell’ – Symphonies No. 45-47’ at Cadogan Hall. The MOZART 250 project continues with this remarkable triptych of Haydn symphonies. All three works were written 250 years ago, in 1772, and number among the composer’s most astonishing and original compositions. Symphony No. 47 was particularly admired by Mozart, while the concert culminates with the superb ‘Farewell’ Symphony. Leading Haydn scholar Richard Wigmore sets the scene at 6.15pm with an illuminating pre-concert talk.
