Laus Polyphoniae in York, Boston & Tokyo
Laus Polyphoniae, 20 to 29 August
Just like last year, all the concerts of Laus Polyphoniae will be available for free on the Polyphony Connects platform. And for international listeners, the festival is coming a little closer, with three international concert stages in York, Boston and Tokyo. These concerts will be available online and for free.
On 23 August, Stile Antico will be performing the Missa Sine nomine at York Cathedral, one of the most beautiful Gothic cathedrals in Great Britain.
The American ensemble Blue Heron is singing the Missa Fortuna desperata from Boston on 24 August. Along with the Missa Fortuna desperata you’ll hear various settings of Dulces exuviae, the lament that Queen Dido sings before she commits suicide.
And from Tokyo, the Vocal Ensemble Cappella will honour the Virgin Mary: Josquin composed the Missa de Beata virgine and motets such as Gaude virgo and Alma redemptoris mater / Ave regina for the Marian devotions, which they will be performing.
