Apply Now for Short-Term Scientific Missions (STSMs) with EarlyMuse!
A new call for applications has been launched for short-term scientific missions (STSM) as part of the COST Action A New Ecosystem of Early Music Studies (EarlyMuse). 

What is a short-term scientific mission? 
Short-term scientific missions are study visits to research institutions or stakeholders in another COST country:  
  • Support individual mobility  
  • Strengthen networks  
  • Encourage international collaboration
Highlights of 2025: Collective missions 
This year's programme introduces collective missions that link at least three researchers from different countries with a host in a fourth country. 30 places are available for seven exciting projects hosted by institutions across Europe.
Who can apply? 
Researchers affiliated to institutions located in COST member countries or neighbouring countries are eligible to participate in the STSM programme. Missions must take place in a country other than the one with which the applicant is affiliated. Priority will be given to:
  • Researchers at the beginning of their careers   
  • Women  
  • Applicants from Inclusion Target Countries (ITC)
  • Applicants who have not previously received funding
What is on offer? 
Each fellow receives a fixed grant of €2,000 to cover travel, accommodation and meals. Early career researchers and applicants from countries targeted for inclusion can request a 50% pre-payment when they apply. 

Key dates  
  • Deadline for applications: 10 January 2025  
  • Notification of decisions: 24 January 2025  
  • Mission completed by: 31 July 2025
