Le Concert des Nations / Jordi Savall - France

Le Concert des Nations / Jordi Savall
Founded in 1989 by Jordi Savall and Montserrat Figueras, Le Concert des Nations was created to perform music from the Baroque to the Romantic periods (1600-1850) using period instruments. Its name, inspired by François Couperin's Les Nations, reflects the union of musical traditions and artistic ideals of the Age of Enlightenment.

Under the direction of Jordi Savall, it has become the first orchestra made up of a majority of musicians from Latin countries, all specialists in historical interpretation. Their repertoire covers composers such as Charpentier, Bach, Haydn, Mozart, Handel, Marais and Beethoven, combining historical accuracy with vibrant interpretations.
Highlights include operatic debuts such as Martín i Soler's Una Cosa Rara, Monteverdi's L'Orfeo, and recent productions of operas by Vivaldi. They have also explored symphonic masterpieces, notably marking Beethoven's 250th birthday with acclaimed performances and recordings of his symphonies.

Renowned for its recordings, which have won prestigious awards, and for its performances in the world's greatest concert halls, Le Concert des Nations is a benchmark for historical interpretation. It was recently nominated by Gramophone for the title of ‘Orchestra of the Year 2023’.
