The programme features rarely performed works by composers Franz Danzi, Anton Reicha, Heinrich Romberg and Anton Ferdinand Titz. Anton Reicha, a close friend of Beethoven, was one of the most avant-garde and experimental composers of his time. With variations on the aria ‘Se vuol ballare Signor contino’ from ‘The Marriage of Figaro’, he presents a kind of manifesto of the ‘salon style’. The cellist Franz Danzi was a composer of the Mannheim School. His instrumental music is considered fabulous, original and virtuoso.
