VIAGGIO IN ITALIA NEL ‘300
Milano, Firenze, Venezia: la Signoria, la Città e la Repubblica
Ensemble LaReverdie
Dedicated to Mirco Caffagni
LaReverdie offers a musical journey in three Italian cities between the middle of the fourteenth century and the early fifteenth: Milan under the Visconti's lordship, Florence municipal and Venice. In Milan, Jacopo da Bologna and Giovanni da Firenze narrate the life of court with madrigals, hunts and motets. In Florence, the lay companies sing laude in vulgar, as witnessed by a Florentine code, and a madrigal glorifies the submission of Pisa. In Venice, the motet celebrates events such as the election of the doge and the annexation of Padua and closes with a Gloria by Antonius Romanus, first master of the ducal chapel.
