The music salon of Mesdames de France
25 October 2024/ France
Queen Marie Leszczynska, the wife of Louis XV, passed on her passion for music to her many children, who took lessons all their lives from the best masters, including Chédeville on the musette, François Couperin on the harpsichord and Jean-Baptiste Forqueray on the bass viol.<hr class=‘break-tag’ />Mesdames de France played many instruments like their mother, and some, like Victoire, Adélaïde and Henriette, showed great talent and a level worthy of the best professionals. This ‘musical rage’ led many composers to dedicate their works to them.
