Magellan's circumnavigation of the globe 

 

It is a wondrous coincidence that in 1519, the year of Ferdinand Magellan's first circumnavigation of the globe, the circle of fifths was circumnavigated for the first time in a madrigal! Texts from Stefan Zweig's novel Magellan and harmonically highly complex music by Adrian Willaert and his contemporaries are combined in this musical reading to create an adventurous journey around the world.
