“I am delighted to bring this production to Toulouse, one of our favorite stops, where we’ve previously performed The Coronation of Poppea, Temistocle by J.C. Bach, Les Indes Galantes, Castor et Pollux by Rameau, and Orpheus by Gluck, among others. It’s a joy to revisit these iconic arias from Giulio Cesare!
While we welcome back the wonderful Elizabeth DeShong in the title role, I haven’t yet had the chance to work with the other soloists in this cast. However, these are artists I have been following for a long time! American countertenor Key’mon Murrah is truly extraordinary, as is William Shelton. Rose Naggar-Tremblay is a brilliant Canadian singer. I discovered Edwin Fardini a few years ago and was immediately captivated by his timbre and expressiveness.
I first met Damiano Michieletto many years ago at La Scala in Milan. He is a director who excels in reimagining works, mastering the art of subtle, quintessentially Italian humor.”
