FETISH BAROQUE by ĀRT HOUSE
27 February 2025/20h00/ Belgium / AMUZ Antwerp
POLY AMORE is the theme of the latest program designed by dramaturge and presenter Thomas Höft for FETISH BAROQUE by ĀRT HOUSE. In fact, gender boundaries were abolished and questioned early on in baroque operas some 300 years ago including lust and seduction as an integral part of their stories. The same happens in instrumental music, when different voices entice and seduce each other and come together to form most unusual pairings and groups. Why not!
Iris Vermillion, Grammy Award winner and a true world star of the opera stage, presents opera highlights together with soprano Philipp Mathmann. Jaouad Alloul a celebrated representative of the contemporary queer scene in Antwerp and Brussels is engaging in conversation with the baroque musicians. Ensemble FETISH BAROQUE by ĀRT HOUSE directed by Michael Hell will present a well selected program for a new kind of audience, when the Fetish community in their best outfit will enter the great halls of AMUZ such as Vivaldi’s famous “Four Seasons” with violinist Maria Kubizek. And Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, one of today’s most important choreographers, develops a new piece for our event with three dancers from the Royal Ballet of Flanders.
