David et Jonathas - Ensemble Correspondances

The ensemble Correspondances will be in concert at the Lyon Auditorium on December 15th for a performance of Marc-Antoine Charpentier's opera David et Jonathas. First performed a few months after Lully's death, David et Jonathas marks a turning point in French opera by placing expression at the forefront. The madness of war and power, the slaughter of innocents, crises of conscience: the plot of this work resonates painfully with current events.
