Cupid & Death

It is an essential diptych to understand the construction of the operatic genre in England. Correspondances invites you to take a step back in time to 1653: under Cromwell's fierce Commonwealth, theater, music and dance are banned. However, "Cupid and Death" will be created, the first complete English masque that has come down to us and the first attempt at a hybrid genre mixing opera, theater and dance before "Psyche" takes another step towards opera. After its premiere at the Caen theater in 2021 and a tour in Brittany lands, "Cupid and Death" will now revive in Besançon.
