CONCERT: CANTS GOLIARDS - CAPELLA DE MINISTRERS | TARDOR MUSICAL
06 December 2024/ Spain / Morella, Castellón
Tardor Musical returns this December to Morella to offer a unique experience celebrating early music and traditional music as living elements of cultural heritage. With a varied program, the festival will become a platform for promoting and appreciating traditional music and culture in an unparalleled setting.
The Carmina Burana are among the most celebrated medieval Latin lyric poetry texts. They gather songs of goliards, clerical jesters, and critics who satirize the social and ecclesiastical norms of the 12th and 13th centuries with radical freedom. This movement influenced the works of Joan Ruiz and, later, the picaresque literature of Quevedo and Espronceda, who exalted marginal figures such as pirates or beggars. In essence, the goliards, as future anarchists, proclaimed a hedonistic catechism: "Try all things, the Apostle commands it," as the Archbishop of Hita would later say.
