Cesti Competition 2025
From 26 August to 31 August Austria / Innsbruck
The renowned “Pietro Antonio Cesti International Singing Competition for Baroque Opera” will take place for the 16th time from 26 to 31 August 2025.
Applications are open until 31 May 2025. Singers born in 1992 or later are eligible to participate. Click here for the online registration.

The jury, chaired by Sebastian Schwarz, is a panel of renowned singers, opera directors and music managers that changes every year. In addition to Sebastian Schwarz, the jury includes well-known members such as Ottavio Dantone (musical director of the Innsbruck Festival) and Anna Bonitatibus (opera singer), as well as newcomers such as Francesco Corti (conductor, musical director at Drottningholm Slottsteater), Franziska M. Kaiser (Casting Director at Staatstheater Wiesbaden) and Julia Maynard (Director of Vocal & Opera at Intermusica Artists' Management).
The competition is named after the Italian composer Pietro Antonio Cesti, who made Innsbruck a center of Italian opera north of the Alps in the mid-17th century. By naming the competition after Pietro Antonio Cesti, the Innsbruck Festival acknowledges the importance of Innsbruck in the history of music. Every year, it attracts young talents from all over the world and is one of the most important singing competitions in this field. Past winners include Sophie Rennert, Emőke Baráth, Lawrence Kilsby and many others, who started their international careers from Innsbruck. Many former participants regularly return to the Innsbruck Festival and have long since become audience favorites.
