Utrecht Early Music Festival voted best European festival

The Utrecht Early Music Festival has received the EFFE Award, the biennial quality prize for Best European Festival awarded by the European Festivals Association (EFA) and European Commission. This was announced on 18 September by the EU Commissioner for Culture Tibor Navracsics during a gala held at the Centre of the Fine Arts (BOZAR) in Brussels.
Festival director Xavier Vandamme: ‘This international prize has given us a huge boost. The Early Music Festival explores the frontiers between music, heritage, history and creation. Research, development of talent and high standards are of paramount importance to us. They are what have enabled the Festival to position itself as world leader within the sector.’
Xavier Vandamme, who is also President of REMA, has dedicated the award to his European colleagues, who invest in lively and innovative early music scene.
