La Dafne de Marco da Gagliano

Pour la saison 2010-2011, Concerto Soave, ensemble du Centre Régional d’Art Baroque, proposera une des premières grandes réussites de l’opéra baroque : La Dafne de Marco da Gagliano, créé en 1608 pour la cour des Gonzague à Mantoue, un an après l’Orfeo de Monteverdi.

Concerto Soave en propose une version en concert avec une disposition tout à fait originale, propre à rendre l’effet merveilleux que produisaient les grands spectacles mantouans ou florentins. Le double orchestre, réparti de part et d’autre de la scène et surélevé progressivement en un tableau aux riches couleurs musicales, entoure le choeur et les solistes, pour produire un effet de plénitude sonore qu’apportent rarement les dispositions classiques.

Dans le plus grand respect historique, largement inspiré par la longue et détaillée préface que Gagliano lui-même a écrite pour l’édition de l’œuvre, Concerto Soave désire rendre pleinement justice à la modernité et à la profondeur d’une œuvre incontournable.

Pour l’occasion, Concerto Soave, sous la direction de Jean-Marc Aymes, a associé Maria Cristina Kiehr à des artistes comme Valerio Contaldo, Pascal Bertin, Monique Zanetti… ou Amandine Beyer.

Le Centre Régional d’Art Baroque prévoit une création pour l’automne 2010 et recherche des partenaires pour cette programmation exceptionnelle.

For the next season (2010-2011), Concerto Soave, ensemble of the Centre Régional d’Art Baroque (Marseille), will propose one of the first great success of baroque opera : La Dafne, by Marco da Gagliano, created in 1608 for the Court of Mantua, one year after the Orfeo (Monteverdi).

Concerto Soave proposes a concert version with an entirely original orchestral layout, designed to recreate the extraordinary impact created by the great productions of Mantua and Florence. The double orchestra rising up from both sides of the stage creates a tableau of rich musical colour framing both the chorus and soloists to produce an impression of sonorous plenitude rarely matched by more classical layouts.

With reverence to historical research, with as a major influence, the long and detailed preface written by Gagliano himself for the publication of the work, Concerto Soave aims to do justice to the modernity and the depth of this seminal work.

For this opportunity, Concerto Soave, directed by Jean-Marc Aymes, associates to Maria Cristina Kiehr artists such as Valerio Contaldo, Pascal Bertin, Monique Zanetti… ou Amandine Beyer.

The Centre Régional d’Art Baroque will create this opera at the autumn 2010 and is looking for co-producers for this exceptional programming.
