Saturday 2 February 2008 REMA signed the declaration the Arts Festivals' declaration on Intercultural dialogue - an initiative of the European Festivals Association.

Cultural diversity, intercultural dialogue and the economic impact of culture have now gained a top position on the agenda of the EU. The decision of the European Union to declare 2008 the European Year of Intercultural Dialogue is the latest step in a long-term plan to create an ever closer union between the peoples of Europe as well as providing all citizens with the opportunity of participating actively in intercultural dialogue in order to strengthen the coexistence of different cultural identities and beliefs, to highlight their common heritage, and at the same time to acknowledge and look respectfully at the differences of individual and local experiences.

Efa got the initiative to write a declaration on the international dialogue. Festivals and other parties signing this Declaration are engaged:

• In building an effective intercultural dialogue, in the conviction that such a dialogue represents an essential tool for peaceful interaction among different cultures, ethnic groups, religions, languages, beliefs and social backgrounds. Such interaction will in turn encourage a respectful and enriching exchange of ideas and help identify the boundaries that define individuals and communities;
• In raising the awareness of artists, managers, collaborators, volunteers regarding Intercultural Dialogue conceived as a respectful and free exchange among communities and individuals and aimed at the promotion and maintenance of cultural diversity which is indispensable for the protection of human rights and democracy;
• In opposing stereotyping, prejudice, discrimination and ignorance about different, foreign or minority cultures and are committed to and engaged in promoting Intercultural Dialogue in the framework of the European Year and for the years to come by mobilising their collective creative resources and celebrating participation as a bond among people.
• In disseminating the European Year documents and its core ideas to the largest number of people possible and ensuring visibility for the logo, brochures and all communication and information materials referring to the European Year in order to promote its essence and objectives.

REMA organizes a press conference is planned Friday 4 April in commun with EFA on the theme of the Intercultural dialogue at the MUSICORA gathering in Paris - Caroussel du Louvre.

La Musique Ancienne… MUSICORA

 

Le REMA est présent pour la première fois au Musicora, l

En partenariat avec Musique Sénat, le REMA et Musicora organisent un concert privé au Sénat le mercredi 2 avril 2008 autour du programme De la Lagune à la Tamise avec l’ensemble La Fenice

Un week-end mémorable à Bruges sur la thématique de la musique ancienne et la danse contemporaine a été organisé en collaboration avec Bart Demuyt, directeur artistique du Concertgebouw à Bruges, et hôte de ce week-end merveilleux à Bruges. Nous avons pu découvrir le spectacle Myth de Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui avec l'Ensemble Micrologus et sa directrice Patrizia Bovi.
Une table ronde a été organisée permettant aux artistes de s'exprimer sur la naissance de ce spectacle mais aussi sur les relations entre musique ancienne et danse contemporaine. Avec les membres du REMA une discussion fructueuse a été organisée. Artistes et adhérents du REMA ont essayé de comprendre pourquoi la musique ancienne parait contemporaine et pourquoi cette confrontation peut être une telle réussite.
Le REMA a aussi tenu son conseil d'administration avec un ordre du jour très rempli et notamment des discussions animées autour du HIP ou du HIPP.
Deux nouveaux membres ont été élu :
Maria Martinez Belaire du Festival : Tardor Cultural Vilafamés en Espagne
et
Carlos Martinez Gil du Festival : Sonidos en el Tiempo, Tolède, Espagne
Prochaine réunion : 2-3 Avril 2008 à PARIS.

Une très grande qualité des 7 ensembles européens qui ont montré leurs grands talents devant une quarantaine d'organisateurs de musique ancienne très enthousiastes à Modène lors du premier showcase organisé par le REMA.
Deux nouveaux membres italiens du REMA ont été élus à l'unanimité lors du Conseil d'Administration le 9 novembre :
- Festival Wunderkammer représenté par Andrea Lausi
- Festival Cantar Lontano représenté par Marco Mencoboni
A bientôt à Bruges le 1er et 2 décembre 2007.
