Donations begin to flow on the bank account opened by the Istituto Abruzzese di Storia Musicale for the restoration of the baroque organ of the basilica of Santa Maria di Collemaggio in L'Aquila, crushed by the collapse of an arch during the earthquake of April 6th. In the meanwhile it was possible to recover the beautiful voice of the instrument: in September it will be published by Bottega Discantica a double CD recorded last year in Collemaggio by Adriano Falcioni and containing the complete organ music of Johann Kaspar Kerll. The IASM and the record company are also evaluing the possibility of allocating part of the proceeds of the CD to the restoration of the organ.

This year on April 6th a major earthquake struck Italy. The province of L'Aquila was dramatically affected suffering with severe damages.
In particular the organ of the Basilica Santa Maria di Collemaggio has been destroyed under the weight of a collapsed arch.
The Istituto Abruzzese di Storia Musicale (the Music History Institute of Abruzzo region), has contacted the EuropeanEarly Music Network in order to find help for the reconstruction of this organ.
Many universities all over the world have been already involved in the project of the organ reconstruction and some of the most famous musicians specialized in ancient music, such as Paul O'dette, Ton Koopman and the Giardino Armonico have shown their support and are actually preparing projects to help L'Aquila.
Starting from today the Institute, with the support of the Festival Grandezze & Meraviglie (Modena), has opened an international subscription action in order to help the Basilica organ rebuilding.

REMA's next major meeting, will take place in Stockholm, from 2^nd to 3^rd June 2009 invited by Peter Pontvik, the artistic director of the Stockholm Early Music Festival.

 

As part of the European year of creativity and innovation, REMA has decided that the Stockholm meeting in June 2009 will be dedicated to the theme of Creativity and Innovation. It will look more specifically at how to educate and raise awareness of Early Music among children and young people.

 

The promotion of universal creativity as a driving force for innovation is an essential factor in the development of personal, professional, entrepreneurial and social skills. At this event, we are inviting our members and the head of four institutions (NORDEM, Rikskonserter, Svenska Musikfestivaler and FFTM) to discuss their best practices in terms of educating school-age audiences in Early Music at their festivals.

The Round table will take place on the 3. June with the following participants :
