We offer a deep and serious educational program, addressed to amateurs and Pavia University students : the Coro del Collegio Ghislieri.
According to the international vocation of Collegio Ghislieri, we established partnerships with the Académie Baroque Européenne d’Ambronay and with the European Union Baroque Orchestra. These important European institutions will stay in residence in Pavia for three years.
Ghislieri Choir & Consort - Ensemble in residenceFounded in 2003 by the italian conductor Giulio Prandi, the organist Maria Cecilia Farina, the violinist Marco Bianchi and the cellist Alberto Guerrero, Arìon Choir & Consort is a period-instrument group gathering 20 choristers and some of the most skilled and renowned Italian baroque instrumentalists, senior members of the best Italian groups. Besides performing the best-known authors (Mozart, Vivaldi, Händel, Bach), Arìon has devoted itself to the rediscovery of the 18th Century Italian choral - instrumental sacred repertoire ; in its concerts it normally performs rare and unpublished works of such authors as Perti, D’Astorga, Durante, Traetta, Platti, Caldara. In the last years Arìon has been invited by the most important Italian Festivals (Festival Mito Settembre Musica in Milan, Accademia Chigiana in Siena, Settimane Musicali in Stresa, Nuove Settimane Barocche in Brescia) and broadcasted on national radio channels such as Rai Radio Tre. It rapidly became one of the best Italian emergent groups, working with important solo-singers such as Roberta Invernizzi, Gloria Banditelli, Romina Basso, Christian Senn, Emanuela Galli, Maria Grazia Schiavo, José Maria Lo Monaco. In 2009 recorded for the Italian magazine Amadeus a monographic CD on Giacomo Antonio Perti (Bologna, 1661-1756). In 2010 started a recording project with Sony-Deutsche Harmonia Mundi ; the first cd is going to be published worldwide next November. Arìon is in residence at the Collegio Ghislieri in Pavia, one of the most prestigious Italian University colleges. It participates in the Lombardy Regional Circuit of Ancient Music, regularly performing in Milan, Villa Reale di Monza, Brescia and Mantua.
Partnerships - international projectsAccording to the cosmopolitan vocation of Collegio Ghislieri, Ghislierimusica has always retained international relationships as fundamental. That is what led us to the creation of important collaboration with two of the european excellences for ancient music : l’Académie Baroque Européenne d’Ambronay and l’EUBO, European Union Baroque Orchestra.
The Académie Baroque Européenne d’Ambronay is a 18 years old unique initiative which offers a multi-disciplinary approach to the art of baroque performance, including theoretical aspects, speech, dramatic art. The Academy will stay in residence at Colllegio Ghislieri for three years. The pupils, led by a notable conductor (for 2011 Sigiswald Kujken), will set up their productions in Pavia at the Collegio Ghislieri.
The European Union Baroque Orchestra (EUBO) provides since 1985 specialist baroque orchestral training to post conservatoire music students from all over Europe, selected by audition, in preparation for concerts and tours which in 2010 will be directed by Lars Ulrik Mortensen, Enrico Onofri, Ton Koopman, Christina Pluhar. They will set up their concerts for three years in Pavia at the Collegio Ghislieri.
Coro del Collegio Ghislieri - educational projectBorn as a simple amateur choir formed by Università Pavia and Collegio Ghislieri students, the coro del Collegio Ghislieri has today a valuable artistic activity that comprises many collaborations with professional artists. It counts at present 54 pupil choristers, who attend also theoretical and practical music courses delivered by Prof. Valentina Argentieri and M° Antonio Tarallo. The young pupils are moreover often supported by Ghislieri Choir & Consort singers in order to provide them a precious didactic support. The repertoire of the choir includes famous sacred works such as Vivaldi’s Gloria, Mozart’s Requiem and Brahms’ ein Deutsches Requiem and important pieces of ‘800 and ‘900 choral music such as many sacred Mendelssohn Motets, Liszt’s Via Crucis, Fauré’s Requiem, Bernstein’s Chichester Psalms, Orff’s Carmina Burana, Ramirez’ Misa Criolla and Navidad Nuestra and Azio Corghi’s Tu vita de’ sensi. Collegio Ghislieri Choir often collaborates with high profile musicians ; besides the conduction of the Musical Director Giulio Prandi it had the chance to perform with the Ghislieri Consort and other important artists such as Laura Catrani, Christian Senn, Yuval Ben Ozer, Carlo De Martini, Avi Avital, Sergio Scappini, Alessandro Marangoni, Mario Marzi and Giovanni Allevi.
